The short version: Pax does not collect, store, or sell your personal data. Your browsing stays on your device. When you use your own API key, the only external communication is between your browser and the Anthropic API — which you control. When you use a Pax subscription, your content is sent to our secure proxy server to process your analysis — but never stored.

What Pax Does

Pax is a browser extension and mobile web app that analyzes the content of web pages and articles to detect manipulation patterns, influence tactics, and persuasion techniques. It also analyzes privacy policies and app store pages to surface key data practices in plain language.

Pax is operated by an independent developer. It is not affiliated with any news organization, political group, or advertiser.

What Data Pax Collects

Pax does not collect, store, or transmit personal data to any server beyond what is necessary to process your analysis request. Specifically:

How the Anthropic API Is Used

When you trigger a page scan or analysis, Pax sends the visible text content of the current page to the Anthropic Claude API. Depending on your setup this happens in one of two ways:

Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of API requests and can be found at anthropic.com/privacy.

What Is Stored Locally

Pax stores the following data locally on your device only:

This data never leaves your device except as described above and is not accessible to Pax or any third party.

Permissions Explained

Pax requests the following browser permissions:
